FINANCES

Ok, so where do I start...AHHHH...there is sooooo much, but I'll start with some basics here and brach out into the details later...

First, my family lives on under 100k yearly. I know some peopel are saying..."DAMN that's a lot" but really, it goes fast with daycare, a mortgage, two cars, and student loans. Also notice I said UNDER lol. I just want to give everyone a ball park for comparing their own situation to mine. Most of these "budgeting blogs" are for women who live in half a million dollar homes and don't have to work. This blog is tailored to women who aren't quite there yet, and my never be, and there is nothing wrong with that :)

The first steps of my family's financial journey started when we got married, of course. My husband and I were not the best with money, just spent it as it came. Most of our friends were also young couples and they didn't seem to mind going into debt for a new truck or boat, but Brian and I just aren't wired that way. We wanted to get out of the rut of living paycheck to paycheck and start saving for a real future.

So that's exactly what we did. We cut back our spending, learned some Dave Ramsey  rincipals, and bought a foreclosed townhome (the mortgage was less than what we were renting a one bedroom apartment for!)

Because of these simple steps, and having our first child, we are more dedicated to saving and paying off debt and have been doing really well (with an occasional hiccup here and there). I'm super proud of how far we have come and want you to know that once you pay of that first credit card, or save up for that first trip to disney, so you will feel so accomplished that you just won't stop.

Happy Saving!

XOXO
